Professional Lighting Design Convention 2013 in Copenhagen

10th July, 2013

Trends and topics from
the lighting industry

From 30th October to 2nd November, 2013, the international conference Professional Lighting Design Convention, PLDC, opens its doors
in Copenhagen. The bi-annual conference is an important meeting for lighting designers, architects, designers, scientists and manufac-
turers to discuss the latest develop-
ments in the lighting industry. Hess GmbH is on site and presents innovative lighting solutions
at stand 33.

Lectures and field trips to representative lighting design projects

Organiser VIA-Verlag compiled a varied programme for the participants: In addition to a wide range of lighting products, visitors can expect over 70 top-class lectures by guest speakers, who include the American architect and artist James Carpenter and the lighting effects specialist Alessandro Gobbetti. Gobbetti has worked, among others, on the film productions "Avatar" and "Green Lantern".
Furthermore, it is possible to visit selected lighting design projects such as the "Blue Planet Aquarium", the City Tunnel station "Hyllie" or the "Industriens Hus" and to get into conversation with the lighting designers responsible. Highlight
of the conference is the presentation of the Professional Lighting Design Recognition Awards for outstanding achievement in lighting design.
A practical overview of all items on the programme, news and events gives the app "PLDC to go" this year for the first time.
It can be downloaded in the App Store for free.

"The point of no return" as the slogan of the event

With this year's slogan "The point of no return" the conference demonstrates once again the necessity for continuous training in the professional field of lighting design and planning. In the future, especially global trends such as growing cities demand more well-conceived and efficient lighting solutions that require extensive know-how and experience.

Hess – competent partner in all aspects of lighting

Considering the increasing complexity of lighting projects concerning lighting requirements and architectural conditions, comprehensively taking stock ensures a sustainable success of the lighting solution.
The specialists of Hess are on hand of the audience with help and advice for all matters related to lighting during the three-day congress. In addition, they support designers, planners, cities, municipalities and building contractors from design to installation of the luminaires and, if required, develop individually tailored special solutions, one of the great strengths of Hess.
Visitors can experience the versatility of Hess luminaires based on the exhibited models CITY ELEMENTS, POSITANO and LINEA. Optimised reflectors and new lighting technologies like LED provide an extremely energy-efficient operation. Through the language of forms and the use of the respective optimally tailored quality lighting the luminaires meet the highest standards – whether for projected new installations or for a future-proof renovation of existing luminaires.

Further information

Already with the start of the Congress in London in 2007, the event laid the foundations for an increasing professionalisation of the lighting professions. Since then, a growing number of trade visitors, industry associations, universities and industry representatives took the opportunity to exchange knowledge on the PLDC and to discuss new approaches to lighting issues.
