The City of Löbau and Hess AG join forces to preserve Haus Schminke for future generations

Haus Schminke Foundation

At the beginning of the Thirties, one of the world’s most remarkable twentieth century houses was built for the Schminkes, an industrialist family. The villa is considered to be the most important private residential work of the architect Hans Scharoun.
Together with Hess AG, the City of Löbau created a foundation to preserve this wonderful example of “Modern Architecture” for coming generations.

Enormous growth in visitors!

The Haus Schminke Foundation is pleased about an enormous growth in visitors from around the world. The number of visitors surpassed in October 2011 the previous year. Besides expert visitors, more and more individual tourists and lovers of architectural are registered as visitors.

Special series of stamps

Post Modern (A letter service company from Saxony) initiates in cooperation with the municipalities Görlitz, Löbau, Zittau and the newspaper "Sächsische Zeitung" a special series of stamps. The Haus Schminke is also shown on the stamps. In November, the stamps were released in an edition of 3,000 pieces.
