4 BMBF awards for Hess LED projects

At the Light + Building in Frankfurt, the BMBF (German Department of Research and Education) made public the ten winners in its LED competition "Cities and Towns in a New Light". Four of the municipalities enlisted the services of Hess AG and its lighting technology.
The competition, which is endowed with 20 million euros, is one of the principal actions in the LED lead market initiative started by the BMBF last year. The initiative promotes the large-scale use of LEDs for public lighting. 141 cities and towns took advantage of opportunity to present their ideas for the illumination of streets and interiors. Prizewinners receive up to 2 million euro premiums, promotional money that is to be used within 18 months to realise their projects.
