Middle East Projects and Orders

Hess's new projects include the illumination of a section of Wadi Hanifa, a valley intersecting the west area of Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, as well as the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates, which accommodates 40,000 faithful.
The mosque, a gigantic building reminiscent of architecture out of One Thousand and One Nights, was built using only the most exclusive materials available, including 15 different types of marble and an unfathomable amount of gold. In future, SERA G luminaires, which harmonise perfectly with the Arab symbolism and the mosque's architecture, will illuminate the corridor leading up to the religious palace.

Another major project is the lighting of the hills and bridges of Wadi Hanifa, a desert valley home to an exquisite residential neighbourhood on the outskirts of Riyadh. Last year saw the shipment of streetlights for the illumination of the valley and now 520 accent luminaires are on their way.
Even more prestigious is the third project: the Dubai Waterfront, the futuristic, pre-planned city, created from manmade islands in the Persian Gulf adjacent to the border with Abu Dhabi. Hess is one of just a handful of specified lighting bidders for this project, a vision to create a high-quality place of residence and business for 1.5 million people. The climate represents a particular challenge to the luminaires' durability, as it is characterised by temperatures higher than 40° C and salt-laden sea air. Although the magnitude of the order has yet to be determined, the fact that Hess is participating in this large, prestigious project is an enormous success for the company. "These projects are important image projects, summarises Francisco Ramos, Head of International Sales, and identifies "premium quality" as the key to entrance and success on the Arab market.
