Pasadena | Concise luminaire design trimmed to precision

Hess AG
Hess underscores its trendsetting role in outdoor lighting with the new Pasadena luminaire, which is premiering at the Light + Building.
Born out of collaboration with product designer Sven von Boetticher, the central design facet is, without doubt, the sleek, angular frame-like construction that catches the eye immediately. It is both bracket and a component of the housing and marks Pasadena’s abrupt departure from the catalogue of handed-down streetlight forms. Pasadena’s unique functional design is further apparent in the horizontally finned roof, a feature conceived to facilitate the dissipation of heat. Contrast is provided by the light silver hue of the flat steel construction and the cast aluminium housing’s charcoal grey.
With its 6-metre mounting height and three different brackets, Pasadena is ideal for the lighting of urban streets and squares, roundabouts, etc. It is available with Hess’s new compact reflector, a precision-engineered, high-efficacy optical system suitable for any standard lamps up to 150 W. Alternatively, Pasadena can be fit with the latest LED technology, for which Hess offers the modular designed, versatile Levo module with integral optics. Levo’s LEDs are mounted on a PCB designed for very simple replacement, enabling cities and towns to benefit immediately from advances in the rapidly developing LED technology.
