Hess wins prestigious design award | Night Elements distinguished as Best of the Best

Hess Form + Licht
In competition for the Red Dot 2006, Hess Form + Licht GmbH of Villingen-Schwenningen took the Best of the Best prize for its Night Elements outdoor lighting system, joining the ranks of Apple, whose iPod won its category, the worldwide leader in mobile phones, Motorola, Junghans, and other internationally known companies. The official presentation of the premium took place on June 26 at the Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen in Essen.
Available for twelve different award categories, the internationally coveted quality seal for industrial and consumer products is conferred on the winner of the respective category once a year. This year, the 24-member jury of internationally recognized designers had to decide between over 2068 entries submitted from 41 countries. In addition to the Red Dot award for leading design, the best of each product category receives the honourable designation as Best of Best.
Hess has worked with internationally noted designers for years. The Swiss architect and lighting designer, Christian Vogt designed the award-winning luminaire series Night Elements.
Night Elements is a columnar system that provides architects, lighting designers and urban planners with an inexhaustible wealth of lighting options. Its different modules combine easily to provide the ideal lighting solution for any urban lighting task, whether street, area, zone definition or accent lighting application. Regardless of the configuration, the columns always possess a consistently uniform appearance. The modular columns effortlessly accommodate more than one lighting function. Karlsruhe is the first city in Germany to enjoy the benefits of the award-winning lighting system. Since April 2006, Night Elements has been the source of illumination in the Kasiserstraße area.
